Sioux City Fencing Club

Promoting the modern sport of fencing in the Siouxland area since 1991

Welcome to the Sioux City Fencing Club

Fencing is an ancient art that has been practiced for thousands of years.  The modern sport of fencing is an exciting, fast paced activity that combines athleticism with intense mental preparation.   Participation in fencing ranges from youth fencers - age 9 on up, to veteran fencers - 65 years of age and older including both men and women.  Fencing is practiced at the recreational level, regional competitive level, national, and international Elite World Cup and Olympic level.  Fencing is one of the few remaining original Olympic events.

Our Mission

The SCFC is a small organization dedicated to promoting, teaching, and practicing the modern sport of fencing.  We offer youth and adult programs in all three weapons - foil, epee, and saber.  Most of our fencers are recreation level fencers, but competitive fencing is offered and encouraged.  Our goal is to provide a healthy exercise environment while enjoying a friendly social atmosphere while training potential national and international level competitive fencing amongst our members.

The Club

The SCFC moved to its current location at Four Seasons Health Club in 1997.  The club is coached by Doug Jauer.  Doug is a Level 1 certified fencing coach by the United States Fencing Association.  The fencing club provides all necessary fencing equipment for our new members including all weapons and protective gear.  Fencing club members are encouraged to buy their own equipment, but are not required to do so.   Club membership is composed of a combination of youth and adult members with both male and female fencers.
